We collect you in Aswan and cross by motorboat to Philae, where the temple of Isis stands on its island — the last place in Egypt where the old religion was still practised. Then aboard, lunch, and the first afternoon on deck as we move north.
Three Nights, Aswan to Luxor
Aswan · Kom Ombo · Gebel el-Silsila · Edfu · Luxor
The programme, day by day
- 3 nights aboard
- 4 temples
- 24 guests at most
Sailing north means working with the current and against the wind, which is why this leg is a night shorter. It loses none of the river for it: Philae on the first afternoon, Kom Ombo and Gebel el-Silsila from the water, Edfu on the third day, and the Valley of the Kings waiting at the end. It suits anyone arriving through Aswan, or anyone with a week rather than a fortnight.
Departs Aswan every Wednesday, ending at Esna with a car to your Luxor hotel · October to April
A full morning on the water. Kom Ombo sits right above the river, so you step from the boat almost into the temple: two sanctuaries side by side, one for the crocodile god, one for the falcon-headed healer, with the crocodile museum next door.
The gorge at Gebel el-Silsila in the morning, a village on the bank in the middle of the day, and Edfu in the afternoon — the most complete temple in the country, best seen when the day trippers have gone.
Breakfast aboard, then across to the west bank: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's terraces and the Colossi of Memnon, before we take you on to your hotel, the airport or the station in Luxor.
Priced per person, double occupancy. Christmas, New Year and Easter are quoted separately.
